Title: In the Moment of Becoming
Year: 2025
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Dimensions: 120 x 100 cm
In the Moment of Becoming explores the fragile space between what has been and what is yet to emerge. The painting captures a moment of transition - one butterfly fully unfolded, the other still suspended between confinement and transformation.
This work accompanied me through several years of change. Looking back, I see it as a quiet reminder that transformation rarely arrives without challenge. It asks us to leave behind familiar versions of ourselves before we can fully discover what comes next.
The dark background is an important part of the story. Growth is often imagined as a bright and uplifting process, yet many of life's most meaningful transformations begin in uncertainty. There are periods when the destination remains unseen, and all we can do is trust the process unfolding around us.
For me, the butterflies came to represent resilience, renewal, and the possibility of beauty emerging from difficult seasons. The painting does not focus on the moment of arrival, but on the threshold itself - that delicate point where one chapter is ending and another has not yet fully begun.
At its heart, In the Moment of Becoming is a reflection on change, loss, hope, and the quiet courage required to keep moving forward when transformation is still underway.
