Title: Stories on Her Skin
Year: 2025
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Dimensions: 100 x 80 cm
Stories on Her Skin was created during a period of profound personal transformation. At a time when many aspects of my life were being questioned and redefined, I found myself drawn back to what had always felt most authentic: creativity. As I gradually emerged from a challenging chapter, one realisation became impossible to ignore - I needed to take my artistic life more seriously and create space for the part of myself that had been waiting to be expressed.
This painting emerged from that place.
The figure stands behind the camera, both seeing and being seen. While part of her remains hidden, she is no longer invisible. The flowing markings across her skin become a visual language of experience - the memories, challenges, and transformations that shape who I am. Like tattoos, they tell stories that cannot always be expressed in words.
The bold colours and confident presence of the figure reflect a longing for authenticity, freedom, and self-expression. Beneath the surface of the painting is a desire to reclaim something essential: creativity, individuality, and the courage to follow a path that feels true.
At its heart, Stories on Her Skin is about finding my way back to myself. It is a reminder that even after periods of uncertainty, exhaustion, or change, our deepest stories remain within us - waiting to be acknowledged, expressed, and seen.
